The Value of Information Depends on How You Filter It

The funny thing about information: it’s neither mind nor matter. It’s not the bits and bytes manifesting in this or that form on this or that computer.

It exists autonomously from your mind or my mind. Or does it stop to exist when there are no longer any minds to understand it? Have the Maya inscriptions ceased to be information because no one can decipher them any more?Thistle Blossom Back and lWhite

Perhaps the headline for this post should be: The value of an information for you depends on how you process and filter it.

Like: This is not just smoke rising up to the sky. These are not just beeping sounds. These are not just funny drawings. It’s information, messages that can be decoded by those in the know.

Being in the know the next step, having deciphered the information would be: is this relevant? Do I have to know this? As what do I see this?

I have my RSS-Reader, I can read this feed: How do I tag it? Or can I cancel it? If not: How does it relate to other information I value as relevant?

What will become of all these pictures/ informations when there are no longer browsers around that can read them?
