"Get discovered" – that sounds so corny!

You don’t “get discovered”. You get molded into people’s expectations, into their plans and strategies. I don’t like the passive attitude of “getting discovered”.

Van Gogh, Mozart: all the great artists who did not get discovered during their lifetime! I think it was not about a discovery, but about the world being ready for them – or not. Of their art being marketable – or not.

What could I say instead of “getting discovered”?

  • Being widely known?
  • Being a brand?
  • Being able to make money change hands?
